As we close one chapter and open another, we can reflect on our journey—where we are today, our progress, and the road ahead.
We founded Modos in 2022 to create technology that respects your time, attention, well-being, and freedom. As an open-hardware company, we aim to make our creations open and accessible, enabling others to experiment and explore new possibilities, applications, and use cases.
Over the past year, we’ve achieved several milestones:
The Caster and Glider project was granted NGI funding via NLnet. Other FOSS related projects also benefit from NGI funding. This funding is now at risk for future projects.

We're excited to share that we'll be at Teardown 2024! On Friday, June 21st, at 12:00 PM, Wenting Zhang will give a talk titled 'Making E-Ink Go Fast! ' Wenting will discuss the design of the Caster project, which forms the foundation for our Paper Monitor and Development Kit.
Today, I'm excited to announce the pre-launch page of the Modos Paper Monitor on Crowd Supply. The Modos Paper Monitor is an open-hardware 13.3-inch, 1600 x 1200 monochrome or color e-ink monitor with a fast 60 Hz refresh rate, low latency, multiple image modes and dithering options, and flexible screen update control. It can be connected using HDMI and USB-C and works on Linux, macOS, and Windows.
In a previous update, I shared that we were selected for a grant from the NLnet Foundation. We're happy to report that we've completed the grant's milestones. We've created a video below discussing our achievements and updates on our engineer prototype. In addition to the video, we've updated the README of the Glider repository. The README contains information related to the project and a comprehensive primer on e-ink.
